Chelsea FC’s move to appoint Maurizio Sarri as the club’s new manager is a “done deal”, according to pundit Paul Mariner.
Antonio Conte’s situation at Chelsea FC continues to be a source of speculation, with the uncertainty surrounding the Italian’s future at the club having continued for some time now.Conte ended the season on a positive note as he led Chelsea FC to an FA Cup final victory over Manchester United as they finished the campaign with a trophy.
Napoli boss Sarri has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea FC in recent days as the Blues ponder a managerial change ahead of next season, despite Conte having won two major trophies in his first two seasons in west London.
Now, ESPN FC pundit Mariner claims that Sarri is indeed poised to take over at Stamford Bridge ahead of next season.Speaking to ESPN FC, Mariner said: They do (still have a manager) but that’s never worried them in the past has it?,” Mariner said.
“They’re a little bit cutthroat to say the least. I think with Sarri, I think it’s a done deal.
“I think it’s just the semantics, the money, how long is the contract, and so on and so forth.”
Chelsea FC won the Premier League in Conte’s first campaign at the club last season, but they struggled to maintain consistent form in the Premier League this term.
The Blues’ stuttering form in the top flight caused them to miss out on Champions League qualification for next season, as they ended up fifth in the table.
