Parallel state congresses in Kogi, as two APC Excos emerge

Two All Progressives Congress, APC, State Excos have emerged in Kogi State following the Saturday party congresses which held at two different locations in the state capital.

The congresses which produced two parallel state executive councils were held at St Peters Primary School Felele Lokoja and Confluence Stadium Lokoja simultaneously with each faction loyal to embattled Chairman Alhaji Haddy Ametuo and Governor Yahaya Bello, announcing their own members respectively.
The Haddy Ametuo faction which held theirs at the St Peter’s Primary School ,Felele in Lokoja, had the returning officer, Theman Saurara’s faction announcing the return of all but two of the former state officers.

According to him, the officials whose positions were declared vacant are the zonal Vice Chairman, Ibrahim Ahovi and the state youth leader,Emmanuel Jimoh.
In his acceptance speech, the embattled chairman Alhaji Hady Ametuo expressed gratitude to the party members for the confidence reposed in him and his team, promising that their suffering would not go unrewarded.
” We suffer for this party together and we will all reap the fruits of our labour together, “he added.

The other faction is yet to announce their new Excos as the congress is still ongoing as at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Media and Publicity to the Governor of Kogi State, Kingsley Fanwo has described the Audu/Faleke group in the state as “lacking in morals and discipline”.
Fanwo stated this in Lokoja on Saturday while reacting to media reports that a parallel Congress was held in the Felele Area of the State, leading to the “emergence of Haddy Ametuo as State Chairman.”
According to Fanwo, the group is a “shameless fraud that have no regard for the constitution of the All Progressives Congress”.
“The National headquarters of our great party delegated a State Congress Committee to the State. The Committee called for a stakeholders meeting yesterday which held at the party secretariat in Lokoja.
“The Committee announced the elected delegates to the congress and the venue which is the Ultra-Modern Confluence Stadium, Lokoja.
“We are all here at the Stadium for the congress and proceedings are going on fine. For a group of fraudsters to be announcing another congress result apart from the one sanctioned by the headquarters and leadership of our party is the height of disrespect for the constitution of the party. It is a political treason that must be treated as such.
“Our national leadership must come down on those jesters and politically ineffectual persons who are the real enemies of our party.
