A gang of gun wielding individuals, claiming to be acting on the orders of the Imo State Government are have to harrasing innocent citizens, especially chieftains of the All Progressives Congress and the Action Alliance in the State.
These criminal gangs who have no evidence that they were detailed by the government to harass innocent citizens and snatch their cars were earlier today at the house of the younger brother to the immediate past governor of the State, His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha, where they broke the padlocks to the gate and forced their ways in, toeing away personal vehicles of Chief Iyk Okorocha, who is presently out of the country.
They also proceeded to the house of another sibling of the former governor, Chief Gerald Okorocha, where they ransacked the building, claiming that they were searching for government vehicles and any property of the Imo State Government that may be in his possession.
Also, a serving and re-elected member of the Imo State House of Assembly was said to have been harrased by the same gang of unidentified gun wielders. The vehicle which they attempted to snatch from the house member was said to be her personal vehicle which she bought less than two weeks ago from Lagos.
The gang was also accused of stopping any vehicle with government registered plate numbers and would forcefully take possession of the vehicles without recourse to how such vehicles came into the hands of the owner.
It is important to note, that the Imo State governor, Chief Emeka Ihedioha is yet to make any official statement appointing any individual or group of individuals to recover government vehicles or properties in their possession. However, it is not out of place to suspect that the body language of the governor may have emboldened some of his overzealous supporters to take laws into their hands by going about harrasing innocent Imolites and snatching their vehicles from them.
The government is hereby called upon to issue a statement denying or affirming the authority of these individuals to recover these vehicles on their behalf, as some mischievous individuals may be seizing the opportunity of the seeming confusion in government to harass innocent citizens and steal their vehicles while hanging that on the neck of the government.
