The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media for Grassroots Mobilization, Mr. Egbuna Amuta, gave the advice in a lecture he delivered at a forum organized by a political pressure group known as, Anambra Grassroots Awareness Initiative, AGAI, in Onitsha.
Mr. Amuta observed that many members of the Igbo political class have unfortunately forgotten the enabling heritage of their forbearers, and have today unwittingly submitted themselves to the dictates and manipulations of their peers from other geopolitical zones of the country.
He posited that the only way Ndigbo could once again effectively make their mark in Nigeria was to form or converge on one political party which has its origin and roots in the Southeast geopolitical zone, as was the case in the First and Second Republics.
The Governor's Media Aide also said that agitation for restructuring of Nigeria's political system for enthronement of the principles of justice, equity and fairness will be beneficial to the Igbo ethnic nationality.
He argued that good governance in a restructured country is preferable to the people than who controls the levers of political office, pointing out that if the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, becomes the dominant political party in the Southeast geopolitical zone in the 2019 general elections, other parties would be compelled to negotiated with it to form the central government of the country.
Mr. Amuta maintained that with this arrangement, the Igbo nation would regain it is pride of place and honour in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
